Sabre Holdings has continually pushed the travel commerce technology envelope, from the first online reservations system in the 1960s to trailblazing online travel in the 1990s. Sabre's systems provide a complete software portfolio that supports hundreds of airlines, as well as a distribution system that links suppliers (air / hotel / car / cruise / rail) to customers (agencies, web users and others).

About the Authors

Alan Walker

Alan Walker is vice president of Sabre Labs, the research-and-development arm of Sabre Holdings. Alan has worked in data processing for over 20 years, working on high performance decision support and transaction processing systems, primarily in the travel and transportation industry. His specialty is the convergence of mathematics, operations research and algorithms. His most recent work has been designing new techniques for finding cheap airfares. Prior to this, he has worked on revenue management, airline schedule planning, crew schedule planning and other decision support systems.

Michael Benzinger

Michael Benzinger, Senior Principal in the Research Group at Sabre Holdings, Inc., served as the chief architect responsible for porting Sabre's low fare search technology to low cost commodity hardware using the MySQL database.
